Even during early times, people believed in the powers of essential oils that come from herbs and flowers. The fragrant aroma is very attractive that they even use this as offerings to Gods and Goddesses. Whenever they want to have a bountiful harvest, heal the weakening body and maintain peace on the land.

Initially used in conjuction with giving gifts to Gods, the buring of oils also had a benefit to those practicing the ritual. While they believed that the smoke would make the Gods glad and in turn will make their wishes granted, the smoke also bioelectrically affected the persons involved.

These scents when smelled, help to utilize the energy and psychic ability. These traditional activities were passed from person to person, and many have survived up to today. Each scent was specifically aligned to certain rituals, purifications and better awareness of psychic ability and the scents were inhaled to utilise these energies.

For ritual oils are used to a more extensive process while on a normal aromatherapy oils are used for therapeutic process such as for massage and inhalation.

Aromatherapy for ritual is for some kind of broader perspective such as having financial stability, seeking love, attracting good luck and more. During the therapy it is believed that these oils allow bioelectrical to pull psychic energy together and then allowing the desired change to happen.

In practice the practitioner becomes more receptive to the conscious mind as the fragrance instils the bioelectrical energies to calm the central nervous system, weakening muscular tension so psychic awareness will be stronger. When the scent is aligned with the energy and coupled with the bioelectrical action it is projected into the atmosphere to procure the changes.

When the oil has been heated it will create a nice therapeutic smell which will revitalize the body naturally. This is a simple way to start making a change in your life.

Acne is a condition that can effect all ages. The scars resulting from acne can cause disfigurements. People with scars can feel insecure and less attractive. Fortunately, there are a number of scar removal methods available for people with permanent acne scars.

Derma-Peeling: This scar removal method involves removing the top layer of the skin. The treatment works by using an acid that strips the layers of the epidermis. Chemicals like Alpha Hydroxy Acid and Beta Hydroxy Acid are used in the treatment. The result is cleaner and smoother skin. It works well for mild scarring. Deeper acne will usually require a stronger acid product. Treatment is performed by a surgeon.

Skin Grafts: Also known as punch grafting, this treatment is used to remove ice pick scars. An instrument used for a biopsy is used to puncture and remove deep scars. The scar is anesthetized in order to reduce pain. A graft is taken from behind the ear and placed in the punch wound to fill in the puncture marls. The skin graft is held in place with skin glue or butterfly strips. This procedure makes the scar less visible. Collagen injections can be used to stretch the skin.

Microlipoinjection: This procedure uses fat from a donor section on the patients body. The injection causes the area to swell up. This method helps reduce Acne scars. . Liposuction or a syringe is used to take fat cells from the patients own body. Dermal fillers will be absorbed by the body so these types of treatments do not last a lifetime. Fat transfer lasts longer that other fillers. The procedure is performed by a surgeon. .

Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion treatments remove bacteria, debris, and dead skin cells from the surface layers of the skin. A ‘microderm machine’ produces a pressurized stream of crystals on the surface of the skin. . The results after healing are smoother and softer skin with less visible scarring. Dermabrasion can be expensive. Qualified doctors will perform the procedure.

Laser Treatments: This procedure involves burning away scar tissue. A wand-like laser hand-piece is used to burn off the scarred skin cells. This results in collagen and skin cell regeneration which creates smoother skin. Skin surgeons can use two acne scar removal lasers. An Erbium (Er) or erbium YAG laser penetrates the skin and the moisture in the skin absorbs it. The heat produced by the laser spread outs allowing normal skin to remain untouched. The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser sends out short bursts of high-energy which vaporize the scarred skin tissue one layer at a time. The result is smooth and rejuvenated skin. Patients have to meet certain requirements to receive this type of procedure. The benefit is that there is a low risk of future scarring. Medical complications after laser surgery on acne scars are rare. This is an expensive treatment that is performed by a surgeon. The procedure is very accurate which allows the surgeon to target only the affected skin tissue Subcision Treatment: This procedure involves using a needle that contains a lancing point. The point is placed under the skin and a doctor will cut the fibers that join the skin surface to the fat located under the skin. It is an effective method but can be expensive.

Acne scarring is a very common skin condition. Scarring can affect many areas of the skin such as the face, back, and neck. The result will often make people insecure about their appearance and body. Acne scar removal treatment can reduce or eliminate scarring. It is important to consult with a specialist before undergoing a treatment to determine the best procedure.

The great tide of Western medicine is turning: we’ve become so jaded with the obvious inadequacies and waste of our medical institutions, with a deep feeling that “something just ain’t right”, that Natural Medicine is quickly becoming mainstream. It’s about time! When did “Conventional” medicine become “Alternative”? Now plant medicine is quickly coming back in favor — folks are trusting the beauty and grace of planet Earth, and that she has all the medicine we’ll ever need. And with that, enter Aroma Medicine. No longer do we need to feel a little odd talking about Aroma “Therapy”; while this has always really been defined as the branch of medicine utilizing the organic volatile molecules produced by plants, the term has been stigmatized in North America to some “New Age” foolishness. But researchers around the globe are telling a different story…

The body of evidence published in peer-reviewed scientific journals proclaiming the valid medical effects of essential oils is growing by leaps and bounds. Simple searches through online databases produce incredible numbers of results: Searching the site of the National Center for Biotechnology Information for the term “essential oil” yields over eight thousand results of studies involving essential oils used in aromatherapy, and “new” essential oils from plants yet to be included in modern aromatherapy’s repertoire. Consider the implications of the first result: the essential oil from Lemons prevents dementia. This is common, wonderful smelling essential oil that one can use to clean the house prevent brain damage at the same time. And this is just the tip of the iceberg; the biochemical and physiological actions of essential oils are very, very diverse.

At this point you may be saying: that’s all well and good, but where’s the REAL medicine? You’ve heard about MRSA — the “Superbug” bacteria running rampant in the world’s hospitals, becoming a real epidemic? MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. Methicillin is an antibiotic that is supposed to kill these bacteria, but they’ve evolved so that they’re no longer affected. Guess what: a combination of Tea Tree and Geranium essential oils plus Grapefruit Seed extract outperforms our greatest laboratory achievements in the modern production of antibiotics. Now, of course, the final test results are being withheld so that the researchers can patent the formula, but you can read through the data yourself — Google does us a giant favor that way — and see that this medicine is already available if you’re willing to blend a few oils for yourself. (It is VERY important you get the help of a knowledgeable practitioner; there are many many oils, and many therapeutic protocols. Like any medicine, it is crucial to precisely match the protocol with the condition for the greatest healing efficacy).

Perhaps the most important effects of all are those seen in the treatment of serious illnesses. Many modern medical aromatherapists believe the greatest promise of essential oils still lay in the development of protocols for treatment of infectious disease. The MRSA “superbug”, referring to one of several strains of Staphylococcus bacteria that are resistant to the powerful antibiotic drug Methicillin, has become an overwhelming problem in the world’s hospitals. Folks go in for care of one condition, and while their immune defenses are low, they come down with an infection that’s very hard to cure (because man-made antibiotics don’t work). Enter essential oils: Pub Med is filled with studies showing the efficacy of essential oils like Tea Tree and Geranium against MRSA (particularly when combined with another potent natural antibacterial, Grapefruit Seed Extract).

Future medical applications even include treatment of Cancer, the most feared disease of all. Natural medicine doctors have been admonished for years by proclaiming that “nature has a cure”, yet the body of evidence continues to grow with the many studies showing the anti-tumorial action of oils like Frankincense and Lemongrass. These plants have been used for centuries for healing — now, the essential oils offer us very concentrated medicine that happens to be very compatible with our physiology. Essential oils easily penetrate our cell membranes, travel safely through our bloodstreams, and can play a dual role of eradicating tumors while enhancing the ability of our immune system to do its job (other studies are showing essential oils actually “tune” the electrical state of our white blood cells such that they do a better job of removing unwanted microbes from our bodies).

It’s important to note that essential oils don’t just effect serious medical conditions — they have a place in our everyday lives, too. Tea Tree essential oil is a wonderful, effective antibiotic, especially useful when combined with soothing Lavender for childhood cuts and scrapes (if you’re tough, just use the Tea Tree to prevent infections). Essential oils have been shown to reduce bacteria in the mouth which reduce tooth decay. Helichrysum essential oil is one of the most profound pain relievers and inflammation-reducers for muscular injuries, and makes small kitchen burns heal almost instantly (just a drop on that little hot spot and you’ll be quickly convinced!). Sea Buckthorn heals wounds and reduces wrinkles. Chamomile or Mandarin have been used for years in Europe to soothe the traumas of childhood, and lend a hand to parental sanity. The scent of many pure essential oils just makes folks happier (and it’s important to note this same results do not occur with “fragrances”, a term for man-made smells — they do not have the same make-up as natural plant aromatics do — and in fact, many people are allergic to them).

Sure, this can sound a little overwhelming…where, really, to start when you’re new to it all? Well, that’s the trick: just get started. Anyone in your family not sleeping well? Rub a drop of lavender on each foot at bedtime for a few nights and see what happens. Someone with athlete’s foot or other similar rashes? Mix 30 drops of Tea Tree and 30 drops of Palmarosa into a fluid ounce of Jojoba oil and massage into the area a couple times a day. Just get a simple diffuser, some Black Spruce essential oil and make your house smell like the middle of the forest. Dab a drop of Rose, Amber, Jasmine or Sandalwood oil to your wrist, rub them together and smell like heaven. It’s that easy. And these simple ideas get you ready for when you might need to tap into the serious medicine available here. Essential oils won’t be foreign anymore, and you’ll start to trust their real medicinal value. Also, there are tons of great books, and very qualified teachers. Open your eyes and heart to the world of Aroma Medicine, and you’ll be sure to find your way.

Bergamot essential oilis subtle and uplifting, uniting one of the most enticing perfume aromas with the transformative potential of this plant’s powerful healing effects. The light green oil is pressed from the peels of the nearly ripe bitter oranges, with an scent like candy for grown-ups; the bright top note combines a fresh sweet-tart orange with slightly spicy balsamic undertones. A member of the botanical family Rutacae, the Bergamot tree (Citrus bergamia) grows up to 15 feet high and yields small round fruit that look much like miniature oranges. The Bergamot essential oil used in aromatherapy should not be confused with the familiar bergamot plant, also known as ‘bee balm’, an herb indigenous to North America.

Originating in tropical Asia, the Bergamot tree is now widely grown in Italy, as well as the Ivory Coast, Guinea, Morocco, and Corsica. Bergamot is named after the Italian city of Bergamo in Lombardy, where the essential oil was first sold for perfumery. The fruit is not edible as the pulp is too sour, resulting in the Bergamot tree being primarily cultivated for its essential oils. It is one of the most popular essential oils used in perfumery – approximately one third of men’s colognes contain Bergamot, and nearly one half of women’s perfumes. Bergamot imparts the characteristic flavor to Earl Grey tea, and is used as a flavoring agent in pastries, root-beer, chewing gum, and toothpastes.

Fresh Bergamot essential oil has nearly 300 compounds: mainly linalyl acetate (30-60 %), linaool (11-22%) and other alcohols, sequiterpenes, terpenes, alkalines, and furocoumarins (including bergapten 0.30-0.39%). Certain furocourmarins, notably bergapten, have been found to be photosensitizing (causing an increased sensitivity to ultraviolet rays), hence Bergamot should not be heavily used on skin that will be significantly exposed to sunlight in the following 72 hours. A ‘bergapten-free’ partially-refined variety is available, and is an excellent choice for massage and skin care formulas.

Bergamot is an excellent antiseptic for use in cases of acne, oily skin, and infected skin. As a natural toner and detoxifier, Bergamot may help to prevent premature aging of the dermis. Bergamot oil is noted to have a slightly irritating effect on the skin in high concentrations, but the opposite healing effects occur when the oil is used at low concentrations (1% or less in carrier oil). Bergamot’s general deodorizing effects derive from its antiseptic properties, which are also effective against bladder and urinary infections. Adding 3- 4 drops of Bergamot to warm water bath can help bring relief to the early stages of urinary tract infections.

Bergamot essential oil is foremost a miraculous neuro-tonic, and a powerful helper against depression caused by fatigue or unreleased tensions and frustrations. Aromatic massage with the oil is naturally indicated for those with poor circulation, heart palpitations, hypertension, and general stress related dis-ease. The kind of depression that can lead to trouble with one’s health is often due to the stagnation of life-force energy. This can be the result of accumulated stress and repressed emotions of grief, frustration or anger. A protective oil by nature, Bergamot is indicated whenever the flow of natural energy is disrupted, leading to imbalanced states such as irritability, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. Bergamot encourages the release of repressed and inhibited feelings, thus helping to release and decompress. The sparkling and yet gentle floral scent gives the oil a sedative yet uplifting quality with the primary effects being calming, balancing centering and clarifying.

Bergamot is further indicated where anxiety and stress related symptoms present as a loss or change in appetite. Bergamot’s antidepressant properties and its regulatory effect on appetite offer assistance when used in cases of eating imbalances such as anorexia nervosa, emotional eating, and bulimia. A natural carminative, digestive aid and antispasmodic make Bergamot effective in instances of colic as well as helping to reduce and relieve flatulence. The essential oil can be used as a single note, or blended with companion aromas such as Chamomile, Coriander and Fennel in a neutral base, applied using caring-tough massage techniques.

That Bergamot essential oil has found its way into our lives in forms that we inhale, splash on ourselves, and even eat is no mistake. Humans have certainly developed a fondness for its brilliant touch to the olfactory and gustatory senses. Its greatest potential may be as a ‘broad-spectrum’ natural antidepressant; the yellow-green color of the oil hints to its affinity to the heart and solar plexus chakras, where many of us are challenged to remain open in our daily routines. It is the opening of the heart and a fluid allowing of the emotions that lies at the center of our healing journeys. Using Bergamot through all primary aromatherapy techniques can assist in this process, opening us to freedom and joys in our everyday lives.

Here are a few formulas employing the dramatic antidepressant and emotional-releasing properties using some of these companion oils: To release aggravation and pressure – 2 parts Roman Chamomile, 2 parts Bergamot and 2 parts Sweet Orange. To overcome nervousness and agitation – 3 parts Lavender, 2 parts Neroli and 1 part Bergamot. When frustrated and negative – 3 parts Bergamot, 2 parts Sweet Orange and 1 part Neroli. To enhance relaxation and self-confidence – 2 parts Lavender and 1 part Bergamot. These blends may be used in a diffuser, or diluted to 3% total concentration in one or more carrier oils for a wonderful aromatherapy massage. “Look in the perfume of flowers and of nature for peace of mind and joy in life” says Wang Wei, summing up Bergamot’s wonderful, multifaceted effects.
