Now more than ever, having a healthy circulatory system is critical. After all, heart disease is plaguing western nations because of poor diet and lack of physical activity.
Now a lot of the “lack of physical activity” is a direct result of technological progress. So don’t beat yourself up if you find yourself in the seated position all day.
So without further ado, here are some tips for keeping your circulatory system in top shape:
1. Break a sweat, but save your joints: Getting your heart rate up for extended periods of time is a great way to keep your cardiovascular system healthy. But you have to take special care of your joints. After all, once your joints wear out, you can’t get them back. So make sure you stay away from high impact activities.
2. Use some outside help: A great strategy here is to take some aspirin which will help blood get through your body with ease. It will also reduce inflammation-a leading cause of arterial disease. Now make sure you discuss taking aspirin with your doctor before making it part of your daily regimen.
3. Increase good fats: But even within good fats, some are better than others. And what most westerners are lacking are omega-3 fats. Olive oil, for instance, is not an omega-3 fat. So make sure you really stock up on walnuts, flax seed and fatty fish.
4. Take your dental hygiene seriously: Keeping those chompers, and the spaces between your chompers, clean is critical for arterial health. You see, having excess bacteria in your mouth will increase inflammation within your body. And remember that inflammation leads to disease and degradation.
5. Have some dark chocolate: Consistent research from the Harvard School of Public Health has showed that raw, organic cocoa benefits the heart. It does so by making your arteries more elastic and it’s also loaded with anti-oxidants. Just don’t buy the store kind because it has too much sugar and fat.
Increasing arterial health is more important than ever in this day and age. Not only are people living longer, but modern environments are not conducive towards maximum health. So make sure you take action on this information sooner rather than later!
